AAP to focus on piped gas in Vijaywada

March 19, 2014 10:53 am | Updated May 19, 2016 09:45 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

Though the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will not be contesting in the ensuing civic polls, it has released a manifesto on behalf of the candidates who are contesting as independents.

The party released a 10-point manifesto, and it will be a common manifesto for all the 23 independent candidates, said AAP Krishna District Convenor P. Rama Rao.

The prime focus will be on restoration of the domestic gas pipeline by Bhagyanagar Gas Nigam Limited. The contract was awarded to this company to lay pipeline for metered-gas in the residential area and a major part of the work has been completed but the connection was not given so far. “This will be our major thrust area, as once completed it will be a major relief for the housewives,” he said. This apart the other areas of attention include completion of underground drainage, reinstalling the community taps in various localities and allocation of house pattas on the hills in various divisions such as 34, 38, 31, 30 and 16. The manifesto also includes a take on the sand mafia.

The State Election Commissioner had rejected AAP’s application to nominate its candidate for the civic polls on the grounds that their election symbol the ‘Broom’ was not registered before the specified time.
