Growing from strength to strength with every passing day, the Aam Aadmi Party is now set to field candidates from all the 59 divisions in the ensuing Vijayawada Municipal Corporation elections.

The party has already decided to contest from all the 294 Assembly seats and 42 Lok Sabha seats from both the regions (Seemandhra and Telangana) in the coming general and state elections. The participation in the local body elections appears to be the new high in their confidence level.

Krishna district coordinator of the party, M. Sai Babu said that the process for the selection of candidates for the local body is under process and awaiting the final nod of the State Coordinator (Political affairs) B. Ramakrishna Raju, who is expected to come to Vijayawada in a day or two. “We are confident that we will give a tough fight to the candidates from other parties. The people want a change and the confidence level has gone up after the Delhi victory of the party,” he said.

This apart, the party will also field candidates for all the 42 wards in the local body election in Machilipatnam.

Machilipatnam Coordinator Aarif Pasha informed The Hindu that people were evincing interest to participate in the local body elections. “We are in the process of finalising the candidates from our members. The membership drive had been good so far and we have enlisted over 40,000 members in the district,” he said
