If you are a city-based student waiting for the registration of Aadhaar Unique Identification Card, go to the special Aadhaar enrolment centre for students, set up at Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium (IGMC) and your work will be done fast.
The district administration on March 4 set up the centre exclusively for the students who are beneficiaries under the fee reimbursement scheme and getting scholarship from the State government.
Tension prevailed among the students due to delay in the Aadhaar registration process across the State as they had to submit their Aadhaar number in the online application form for grant of fee reimbursement or scholarship by April.
“Students native of any district or state can register for Aadhaar card in the five counters of the centre by producing their SSC certificate and Public Distribution Card (Ration Card),” said Social Welfare Department Superintendent J. Baburao.
Working hours
The centre is open between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. and special application form for registration of Aadhaar is also given to the students for making the registration process easier.
“Registration is being completed within 15 to 20 minutes instead of waiting for hours at a regular centre. This initiative is timely as we still have time to apply for the scholarship,” said Florence Nightingale School of Nursing student B. Shesha Ratnam from Guntur, who had come along with 10 classmates. Students of class IX and X, eligible for pre-metric scholarship are also turning out up at the centre for Aadhaar registration.
Average enrolment
The average number of enrolment per day is more than 200 at the centre. It is expected to be double as soon as the pre-final examinations for class X and ongoing Intermediate public examinations are over.
All the government and corporate educational institutions have been informed about the working hours of the special Aadhaar enrolment centre and huge turnout of students is expected.
“The facility helps us save preparation hours for our scheduled examinations. We need not go to our village for the registration and can apply for fee reimbursement of Rs.35,000 before the deadline,” Potti Sriramulu Engineering College students N. Laxman and A. Krishna told The Hindu.
