: Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday said that the renovated Tummalapallivari Kshetrayya Kalakshetram will be a hub for several social and cultural activities in the days to come.

Mr. Naidu said the aesthetically-made up venue would witness debates and discussions during Krishna Pushkarams in which experts would delve into several topics like river linking, Amaravati, Vanam Manam and other projects taken up by the State government. “Students and youngsters should come in large number and participate,” he added.

He said soon after bifurcation, the State did not have even a good auditorium to conduct regular meetings. “We took a decision and granted Rs. 8 crore for the renovation.” The Chief Minister asked the denizens to play the role of a good host to perfection and not to indulge in exploitation. “It is our duty to make the river festival a grand success.”

The evenings will witness cultural programmes both at the kalakshetram and the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium.

Municipal Commissioner Veerapandian said that the auditorium was renovated with an intention to transform it on the lines of Hyderabad’s Ravindra Bharathi. The new auditorium is an eco-friendly one with 60 per cent green-belt and it would now function as a state-of-art multi-purpose hall.

The auditorium would get a new look with the removal of the compound walls blocking the adjacent canals. He said the vertical gardening facility at the entrance was a first of its kind and the 3,500-feet extended lobby would give the auditorium an imposing look.

The civic chief said the hall was centrally air-conditioned with a capacity of 194 tonnes equipped with luxurious push backseats and two rows of sofa sets for VIPs. “The new hall will have spacious wooden flooring stage with LED stage lighting and acyclic podiums.”

The other features of the renovated hall are concept designed cubical toilets, fire alarm system, wooden panel walls, gypsum ceiling with centre wooden ceiling.

Mr. Veerapandian said the normal sound system was replaced by state-of-the-art high-end array system from Bosch with acoustically treated interiors.
