A distraught TDP worker wants to meet his ‘boss’

May 19, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 07:19 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

Thirty-six-year-old Prabhala Venkataramana is a committed Telugu Desam Party worker, and he is desperate to meet his party supremo and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

His ceaseless efforts to meet his ‘boss’ have turned futile and his pleadings with bureaucrats are yet to fetch him results. He is one among the dozens of hapless citizens, who wish to seek an interview with the Chief Minister to explain their travails.

The emotionally shattered father wants to treat his son Chaitanya (6), down with an acute paediatric nervous ailment — seizure disorder. “My son cannot stand. Someone has to carry him always. His head can’t remain still and it wobbles,” narrates Mr. Venkataramana.

He said for the past six months, he had been making rounds to the Chief Minister’s Office but was unable to meet Mr. Naidu. “Additional Secretary Ramasubbaiah took the request letter but since then nothing has moved.”

Ironically Venkataramana, a native of Kadapa, is a die-hard NTR fan and has donated blood at several camps organised by Kadapa District TDP.

“I had already spent lakhs of rupees when my child was treated by Lotus Hospital at Hyderabad. My child is suffering since birth. I even met former united Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy before bifurcation. But no one came to my help,” he bemoaned.

Death of wife

He said presently the child was getting treatment at Chennai-based Kanchi Kamakoti Child Trust Hospital. “My son is suffering from paediatric neuro disorder and he needs Rs. 6 lakh for treatment. I sold my little holding for the treatment and I need help,” pleaded the father.

The sudden death of his wife left him in a precarious position, as he is now taking care of the two sons from a job which fetches him Rs. 6,000 per month. At a TDP party workers’ welfare meeting held at Kadapa, Mr. Venkataramana met TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh who assured him all help but no action was taken so far. The distraught father is presently staying in Pandit Nehru Bus Station with a hope to meet the Chief Minister with all the necessary medical findings.
