‘A clear verdict against corruption, communalism’ says MP Rayapati

May 09, 2013 02:39 pm | Updated 02:39 pm IST - GUNTUR:

MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, who acted as party observer for elections to Bangalore Parliamentary constituency, said the victory in Karnataka was a clear verdict against the corrupt and communal forces.

Addressing jubilant party workers at his residence here on Wednesday, Mr. Sambasiva Rao asserted that the Modi magic did not work in Karnataka as people reposed confidence in the Congress party’s capability and commitment to give good, clean governance.

The outcome of these elections is a clear pointer to the party’s resurgence across the country. Besides, people wanted to see Rahul Gandhi as the Prime Minister.

PCC spokesman Md. Hidayat expressed confidence that the Congress party would reap similar dividends in Andhra Pradesh in 2014. The BJP’s game-plan to garner votes by arousing communal feelings was foiled by the electorate.

District Congress Committee Vice-President K. Srinivasa Rao, National Students Union of India District President Y. Krishna Teja and others participated.
