State planning $ one millioncash prize event for startups

Special Chief Secretary and IT Advisor to the Chief Minister, AP, J.A. Chowdary on Thursday said the State government was planning to organise an international event for startups with $1 million cash prize.

Mr. Chowdary was speaking at the launch of the Amaravati chapter of the Information Technology Association of Andhra Pradesh (ITAAP) here.

Emphasising the need for international exposure for the IT sector in AP, Mr. Chowdary said: “We are planning a big event called Vizag Fintech in October and we will announce one million dollar cash prize for the best startup company in the world in the Fintech area,” he said.

He asked the IT fraternity to focus on all cities of AP and make each city a hub of particular technology that can attract the attention of the entire world. “At least one event must be conducted in each city every month with special focus on particular technology besides one international event,” he said.

ITAAP State president Ravi Eswarapu and secretary Sridhar Kosaraju said the ITAAP would focus on bringing in business as well as investors to the State besides conducting talent management programmes and job melas for youth.

Efftronics MD D. Ramakrishna of the city is the Chairman of the Vijayawada chapter and Indrajit Anne, CEO of Inventiz, is the vice-chairman. Representatives of various IT companies in the State and members of ITAAP were present.
