Manipal Hospitals here has inaugurated a ‘super deluxe’ general ward to mark its 10th anniversary.
Manipal Group of Hospitals Managing Director and CEO Ajay Bakshi inaugurated the general ward, which was better furnished and equipped than the deluxe ward in the same hospital.
The new general ward, which will also house patients being treated under the NTR Vaidya Seva Scheme, has been developed on 13,000 square feet. The new 66-bed new block has modern amenities with four separate wards of 10 and 23-bed separate dormitories for men and women. It also has a state-of-the-art isolation ward for patients with highly contagious diseases like SARS (Severe acute respiratory syndrome ) keeping in mind the future needs of the hospital.
The new general ward has central air-conditioning, oxygen facility for every bed and facilities for barrier nursing. Though the wards had the look of rooms in five-star hotels, there would be no extra charge for them. The best available facilities were provided in the general wards keeping in view the future needs of the hospital and the norms of the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH) certification.
Mr. Bakshi said the Manipal Group of hospitals was using state-of-the-art technology for treating cancer. The Hospitals were using Watson IBM Software for providing the best available therapy for cancer patients. The technology developed by IBM used Artificial Intelligence (AI) to come up with the best treatment schedule for cancer patients.
Over 100 patients had already benefited free of cost from the new technological initiative in the Vijayawada unit. Hospitals in developed countries charged patients for the benefit, Mr. Bakshi said.
