A train engine went off the tracks at the railway yard here on Friday. However, no casualties were reported. The railway officials are tight-lipped over the incident.

According to sources in the railways, the engine went off the tracks during shunting and tilted on one side. The alert staff, who rushed to the spot, put the engine on the tracks and are investigating on the reasons for the incident. Three trains were delayed for some time following the incident, it was learnt.

Chandrababu Naidu, Union Civil Aviation Minister P. Ashok Gajapati Raju and other ministers and MPs at Railway Institute here.

“On knowing about the incident, we rushed to the yard and rectified the problem. The engineering, safety, signalling and other department officers were participating in the inauguration programme when the incident occurred,” said an SCR official.
