CMs’ panel on digital payments to submit report tomorrow

The Chief Ministers’ Committee on Demonetisation and Digital Payments, headed by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, is scheduled to present an interim report to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 24.

As part of it, Mr. Naidu conducted a review meeting with officials on Sunday.

The Chief Minister asked the officials to submit data on cashless transactions and digital payments post demonetisation.

He also wanted them to prepare a report on digital payments being adopted by other States.

The Chief Minister expressed his happiness over Andhra Pradesh topping the country in digital payments. The State registered 42% digital payments.

“Efforts should be made to increase it to 60% and chalk out plans to achieve 100% digital payments in Krishna district in the first phase. Other districts can follow suit,” the Chief Minister said.

Asking IT Secretary Vijayanand to make use of the biometric system to encourage digital payments, the Chief Minister said the system should be introduced in banking transactions from January 26. Special Chief Secretary (Finance) Ajeya Kallam, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Saiprasad, Secretary (Finance) Suneeta, Civil Supplies Commissioner B. Rajasekhar, AP FiberNet MD Sambasiva Rao, CMO Secretaries Rajamouli and Pradyumna, Krishna District Collector Babu A, and SLBC convener G.S.V. Krishna Rao were present.
