AP Commission for Backward Classes Chairman Justice K.L. Manjunath on Tuesday said that the Commission would explore various options for the welfare of slum dwellers and students of the BC hostels across the State.
Addressing the gathering during a public hearing here, Justice Manjunath said the Commission would recommend possible solutions to address key issues such as kidney ailments in Uddhanam region in Srikakulam district and health hazards due to fluoride content in the drinking water in Prakasam district. “We are hearing the voice of the people on backwardness of respective classes, reservations and regrouping of the castes, apart from studying the present state of the people belonging to the Backward Classes,” he added.
The Commission was keen on identifying which class of people are living in the slums in the district headquarters and their livelihood options and required rehabilitation facilities. Backwardness in the field of education among BCs was one of the key areas of the study by the Commission at the field level.
