Minister for Law Erasu Pratap Reddy said the Government took steps for establishing 86 new courts soon and converting 108 fast track courts into regular ones.
The process of filling up magistrate and public prosecutor posts is also being set in motion.
These measures would help in reducing the number of cases pending in courts. In a brief chat with media persons after visiting Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple here on Sunday, Mr. Pratap Reddy said there were 886 courts in the State and together with the new ones, they would facilitate speedy disposal of cases.
Necessary clearances for setting up the new courts were being obtained from the Central Government. Emphasis was laid on curbing cyber crime which has been a cause for concern.
Regarding the all-party meeting summoned by the Central Government on December 28 to discuss Telangana Statehood,
Mr. Pratap Reddy wished that the consultation would break the deadlock and refused to make further comments on the contentious issue.
He exuded confidence that the ruling party would retain power in 2014 irrespective of the conspiracies hatched by opposition parties.
