74 cases registered against shops for violation of norms

Legal Metrology officials launch special drive

The officials of Legal Metrology Department on Tuesday conducted a special drive to crack the whip on the alleged irregularities in the sales of essential commodities and goods in Vijayawada, Tenali, Guntur, Narasaraopet, Phirangipuram and Satuluru under the Krishna, Guntur and West Godavari zones.

According to officials, a majority of the violators were dealing with the sale of electronics, peripherals and banks.

Six teams formed

Six teams of officers from the respective zones raided various stores and registered as many as 74 cases of violations of the rules.

As many as 18 cases were registered against electronics and computer spare parts shops while eight were booked against banks.

Also the vendors of gift articles, fertilisers, jewellery, hardware, automobiles, provisions, LPG, milk, textiles, furniture and herbal products were also among the violators.

In the Krishna Zone, the suprising raids were led by Assistant Controller P.S.R.N.T Swamy.
