67-year-old man done to death in revenge killing

In a gruesome revenge killing, a 67-year-old man was brutally murdered by a person. The torso and other parts were found on the banks of River Krishna at Srikakulam village in Ghantasala mandal in the district on Sunday. The gory incident created panic in the tiny village.

The victim was identified as Tirumalasetti Suryachandra Rao of Srikakulam village. The accused, S. Venkata Nageswara Rao alias Raja reportedly told the villagers that he killed Mr. Rao before fleeing from the spot.

Speaking to The Hindu Avanigadda DSP K. Hari Rajendra Babu said Suryachandra Rao was accused in the murder of Nageswara Rao’s grandfather some 20 years ago. “To take revenge, Nageswara Rao killed Suryachandra Rao by cutting the body into pieces with a knife and threw the parts on the river bank. The incident took place when the victim was watering the fields. Police recovered the knife used for committing the crime,” said the DSP.
