The SSC examination went off peacefully on the first day on Friday.
Students appearing for the exam looked slightly nervous as they were writing the test under the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) system for the first time. Under CCE, 80 marks are allotted to the board exams while the remaining 20 marks are given based on the students’ classroom performance throughout the academic year.
A total of 6,28,081 students are appearing for the exams this year, which is 29,000 less than last year.
Of them, 3,25,713 are boys and 3,02,368 girls, while 19,015 students wrote exams for vocational courses. These students are drawn from 11,143 schools across the 13 districts of the State and 2,931 exam centres have been designated for them.
As part of tight security for the exam centres to prevent any possible malpractice, CC cameras were installed around centres that have been identified as trouble spots.
