4,000 Kuchipudi dancers to attempt Guinness record

An attempt will be made to set a new Guinness record at the upcoming third International Kuchipudi Dance Convention, announced the Silicon Andhra Founder-Chairman Kuchibotla Anand.

At a meeting to release the official poster for the convention on Friday, he said that around 4,000 dancers would dance for “Brahmanjali and Dasavatara Sabdam” to create a new world record. This time the event would be held from December 23 to 25 in Hyderabad and the theme of the convention would be “Yuvatha Kuchipudi habitha!” (Youth is the Future of Kuchipudi), he said.

The main aim of these conventions is to promote Kuchipudi form of dance and provide a livelihood to the dancers and gurus, said Mr. Anand. More than 6,000 dancers from India as well as other countries like Italy, Ukraine and Russia would be attending this convention, he said.

The convention would be inaugurated on December 23 and there will be lecture demonstrations, workshops, research paper presentation and performances till December 24, said Mr. Anand. The highlight of the convention would be on December 25 when dancers from the Maha Brunda Natyam would try to set a new record, he added.

Guidelines

All the participants and delegates should register their names by paying a registration fee of Rs.600 on or before October 30 and Rs.700 on or before November 30 by Demand Draft drawn in favour of “Siliconandhra” payable at Hyderabad. The registration fee will allow delegates to attend all three days of the convention, receive a copy of souvenir and meals (breakfast, lunch, tea, dinner). Traditional Kuchipudi costume/make-up is compulsory for all participants of “Maha Brunda Natyam” and they should make their own arrangements.
