3-day science exhibition from Dec. 7

The event is to mark the golden jubilee of Gora Science Centre

A three-day science and technology exhibition will be organised at Atheist Centre near Benz Circle to mark the golden jubilee of the Gora Science Centre.The event will be inaugurated by Siddhartha Engineering College principal K. Mohan Rao at 11 a.m. on Wednesday (December 7). Deputy Transport Commissioner, Krishna district, K. Mohan Rao, and Director of All-India Radio, Vijayawada, Mangalagiri Aditya Prasad, will be the guests of honour and former IMA president G. Samaram will preside over the inaugural session.

Established almost half a century ago to spread science and to inculcate scientific temper, the science centre had been relentlessly working to promote a rational outlook among people by dispelling superstition and blind beliefs. The centre signifies the onward march of science and technology and the remarkable progress achieved over the years.

Themes

Themes that would comprise the working models and images at the expo include environmental protection, disaster preparedness, waste management, and other burning issues.

Medical exhibits of human body parts will be the highlight at the exhibition.

Besides schoolchildren, various organisations and government departments would be part of the exhibition. Siddhartha Engineering College, Siddhartha Institute of Technology, South Central Railway, Siddhartha Medical College, Potti Sriramulu Engineering College, and various arts and science colleges, Road Transport Authority, Ground Water Department, AP Pollution Control Board, Rotary Club of Vijayawada Midtown and several other organisations are coordinating the event.
