A total number of 37,718 students will appear for EAMCET 2013, scheduled on May 10, in the Vijayawada region.
“Of them, 23,748 are vying for a seat in an engineering college while the remaining 14,148 candidates as aspiring for a seat in the medicine stream,” said G. Samba Siva Rao, Regional Coordinator, EAMCET 2013, at a press conference here on Tuesday.
The students would write their test in 72 test centres, of which, 45 are earmarked for engineering seat aspirants and 27 for medical seat aspirants. To ensure smooth conduct of the exam, 54 observers and 1886 invigilators besides special observers and other staff have been deployed.
“No candidate will be allowed to enter the examination hall after 10 a.m. (for engineering stream) and after 2.30 p.m. (for medicine stream) and no candidate will be allowed to leave the examination hall before 1 p.m. (for engineering) and before 5.30 p.m. (for medicine),” said Mr. Rao.
Candidates would be permitted into the examination hall at 9.15 a.m. (engineering) and 1.45 p.m. (agriculture and medical).
Mathematical tables, log tables, calculators, pagers or any other electronic gadgets, including cellular phones are not permitted.
“Students must use only blue/black ball point pen to darken the circles of correct answer in the OMR answer sheet,” he said, urging parents and candidates must visit their respective exam centre on May 9 to know the whereabouts and how to reach it to avoid last minute problems.
Mr. Rao appealed to the Police, APSRTC and APSEB departments to make necessary arrangements for smooth conduct of the exam. The police department would beef up security arrangements at all test centres on the exam day, the RTC will run special buses to all test centres to meet the extra traffic caused by about 1lakh people connected with the EAMCET and the APSEB has been asked to provide uninterrupted power supply to all centres.
Mr. Rao said mobile phone jammers would be installed at problematic test centres to prevent copying by using high-end mobile technologies, candidates will have to affix their fingerprints on the attendance/nominal sheet and these will be tallied at the time of admissions. Section 144 would be imposed at all the test centres and special observers, special squads and enforcement officers would be deployed at the test centres.
