A total number of 37,000 students will appear for the Engineering Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (Eamcet) 2014, scheduled to be held on May 22, from Vijayawada region.
“Of them, 22,050 are aspiring for engineering seats while 14,950 are seeking admission in agriculture and medical courses,” K. Mohana Rao, Regional Coordinator EAMCET-2014, Vijayawada Region, told a press conference here on Tuesday.
As many as 70 test centres have been arranged to enable the candidates to write the test. A total of 42 test centres have been earmarked for engineering aspirants against 28 for agriculture and medical aspirants.
Mr. Mohana Rao said as far as engineering seats were concerned, nearly 3 lakh seats were available across Andhra Pradesh and every candidate who secured rank in Eamcet and passed the qualifying exam would get a seat. This was in contrast to the large number of candidates vying for 6,200 medical seats, he added.
In Vijayawada region, 54 observers and 1,860 invigilators besides special observers, ministerial and class-IV staff would be deployed on nine routes identified for engineering and seven for medicine.
No candidate would be allowed to enter the exam hall after 10 a.m. (for engineering wing) and 2.30 p.m. (for agriculture and medical streams) and they would not be allowed to leave the exam hall before 1 p.m. and 5.30 p.m. respectively.
Engineering aspirants will be allowed inside exam hall at 9.15 a.m. and those writing agriculture and medical test would be let in by 1.45 p.m.
Mr. Mohana Rao said students must ensure that the OMR answer sheet and filled in online application form along with attested copy of caste certificate (in case of SC/ST category only) were returned to the invigilator and failure to do so may attract criminal action.
He said the Police Department, APSRTC and the APTransco had been roped in to ensure smooth conduct of the test. A.V. Ratna Prasad, Principal in-charge of V. R. Siddhartha College of Engineering was also present.
