23 committees formed National athletics event

VIJAYAWADA: Special Chief Secretary (sports) to Andhra Pradesh government L. V Subrahmanyam on Wednesday convened a meeting with Andhra Pradesh Athletics Association administrators for the successful conduct of the 15th National inter-state athletic championship which will be held at Acharya Nagarjuna University from July 15 to 18.

As many as 23 committees were formed for the smooth conduct of the event and the organisers were advised to take steps to reflect the importance and greatness of the new capital city – Amaravati during the meet which is coming up 15 kilometres from the university.

Committees such as reception, transport, accommodation, catering, medical, media, and doping were formed.

APAA secretary A. Raghavendra, APAA chief coach Vinayak Prasad, Andhra Loyola College physical director Nagendra Prasad and SAAP managing director N. Bangara Raju took part in the meeting.

Incidentally, Acharya Nagarjuna University is staging two more national events – National junior athletic meet in November and all India inter-universities athletic meet in December.
