Out of over 31,000 youth, 2,044 candidates qualified from Sirkakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, West Godavari and Krishna districts, who participated in the weeklong Army Recruitment Rally that concluded here on Saturday.

For the 2,044 youth, who have qualified for the medical and further screening test, the process will be held here on Tuesday (June 25) at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium.

Examination

The candidates found fit in the medical test will be allowed to write the common entrance examination (CEE), which will be conducted at Visakhapatnam on July 28.

The rally was held to fill up various posts in the Army such as Soldier Technical and Soldier Technical (Aviation & Ammunition Examiner), Soldier General Duty, Soldier Technical Nursing Assistant, Soldier Technical (Dresser), Soldier Tradesman (All Arms), Soldier Clerk/ Store Keeper Technical and Defence Service Corps.

According to the Director Recruiting P.P. Singh said the Indian Army is one of the biggest job providers in the country and the recruitment process is a continuous one to keep the Army young and fit. With the improved pay, allowances and perks, it is today an attractive profession, he added.

Efforts were being made to get maximum number of youth from the backward areas of the districts to woo them away from the influence of naxals and integrate them into the national mainstream.

‘Based on merit’

He also cautioned aspiring youth, who intend to join the army, to keep away from touts and concentrate on mental and physical fitness, as the selection is totally based on merit. Regular updates on the selection process will be hosted on the web www.ap.nic.in and also informed through press releases, he added. The recruitment officer thanked the district administration for providing the required infrastructure and services for the smooth conduct of the rally.
