In a case of quick detection, the Ibrahimpatnam police arrested two thieves, who committed theft in a house by tying the inmates, on the city outskirts of the city on April 3. They escaped with 20 tolas of gold, which was recovered by the police. The accused – S. Durga Rao and I. Nagabushanam – residents of A-Colony Centre were working as daily wage labourers in Vijayawada Thermal Power Station, said West Zone Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) T. Hari Krishna. Briefing this to the newsmen here on Sunday, the ACP said the accused who painted the house a few months ago observed that an aged couple was staying in the house. They conducted ‘recci’ on the pretext of enquiring for a rented house before committing the offence. At around 10.30 a.m. the duo entered into the house by covering their faces with masks and tied the couple, Satyanarayana and his wife Varalakshmi, and escaped with the jewellery. Following a complaint, and based on the clues given by the victims and the dog squad the police rounded up the accused, said the ACP and complimented the police team Inspector R. Ramachandra Rao and sub-inspector T.V.V.Rama Rao for detecting the case .
