29 candidates file nominations for Vijayawada, Machilipatnam Lok Sabha seats
There was full action on Saturday, the last day for nominations, as 193 candidates filed nominations for the 18 Assembly constituencies and 29 candidates submitted their nominations for the Vijayawada and Machilipatnam parliamentary constituencies in the district.
In the city, the streets were taken over by political sloganeering as 19 candidates filed nominations for Vijayawada parliamentary constituency and over 48 candidates for the three Assembly constituencies.
It was a hectic day for Returning Officers of the Central and the West constituencies in the city as the nominations process continued till evening.
Though major political party candidates filed nominations for the Vijayawada parliamentary constituency, Ishwarya Lakshmi Chinnam filed nomination from Jai Samkyandhra Party (JSP), Har Mohinder Singh Sahani from Aam Admi party and Suryadevara Nageswara Rao from the CPI and 11 others filed as independents.
Among the Assembly constituencies, TDP Gadde Rammohan Rao arrived at the DWMA Office, Gollapudi along with Vijayawada TDP MP candidate Kesineni Srinivas (Nani) to file his nomination for the East constituency.
Former Vijayawada Mayor Mallika Begum filed her nomination from the Jai Samkyandhra Party for the West constituency and Akula Srinivas Kumar filed his nomination from the Congress for the same constituency.

The TDP had its share of rebel trouble with Chunchu Malyadri filing his nomination as an independent for the West constituency.
For Machilipatnam parliamentary constituency, 10 candidates, including former Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy (YSR Congress), filed their nominations.
