Officials of Karaikal district and the authorities of Sri Dharbaranyeswarar Temple otherwise called ‘Sri Saneeswarar temple’ at Tirunallar near here, are making all arrangements for the smooth conduct of the ‘Sani Peyarchi’ festival which falls in December this year.
As a large number of devotees is expected this year too and with a view to regulate the crowd better, the temple authorities have chalked out a plan for ensuring expeditious completion of on-going projects.
As a first step, the temple authorities have taken steps to expedite the work on construction of a yatri nivas at Tirunallar.
The Union Territory government, under its Tirunallar Temple Town Development Project, has acquired six acres of land for the construction of the yatri nivas and it has a huge parking area for vehicles.
“As a large number of devotees assemble during weekends with visitors and tourists coming by buses or mini vans, there was a need for a large parking area,” an official said.
The authorities are executing the project in three phases.
The yatri nivas would have 50 rooms - 25 on the ground-floor and first floor each. Similar identical structure would come up during the second and third phases. The total area of the first block would be 4,524 square metres with 12 single bedrooms and 13 double bed-rooms.
