All the 29 students in the fourth batch of the year-long postgraduate certification programme in ‘Welding and Quality Engineering’ offered by the Welding Research Institute (WRI) in BHEL, Tiruchi, have been placed in various organisations.

The WRI has been conducting the programme in association with the Tiruchi BHEL Education Society and PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore.

Handing over the course completion certificates to the students at a function held at the college recently, Y.S. Trivedi, Executive Vice President (Manufacturing), L & T, Hazira, saw a parallel between the growing need for trained manpower in welding technology and future economic growth. BHEL and the College, he said, were rendering a service to society through technical programme to generate employable engineering graduates for the multi-disciplinary field of welding.

College principal R. Rudramurthy, principal, said the finishing school was significant and the flagship programme was instrumental in transforming raw graduates into industry-ready professionals.

“The finishing school for which students are selected through a rigorous process has attracted excellent response from the industry,” R. Easwaran, Head, WRI & Labs, BHEL, Tiruchi, said.

M. Thiruneelakandan, Treasurer, TBES & Additional General Manager, Finance, BHEL Tiruchi; and G. Buvanashekaran, Senior Deputy General Manager, WRI, also addressed the students.
