A photo exhibition on the ‘Evolution of Chola Temples’ was thrown open to the public on the occasion of the World Heritage Week celebrations that commenced at the Sri Brihadeeswarar Temple here on Sunday.

The Archaeological Society of India and the State Department of Archaeology are co-hosting the event in which Thanjavur MP K. Parasuraman, Superintending Archaeologist, ASI Chennai Circle, A.M.V. Subramaniam, Deputy Superintendent V. Sundarapandian, Prof. K. Rajan from the Department of History, Pondicherry University, Senior Prince of the erstwhile Thanjavur Palace Babaji Raje Bhonsle, Prof. S. Rajaelu of the Tamil University, Thanjavur, Thavil Vidwan T.R. Govindarajan, and others spoke.

The Department of Arts and Culture is organising a cultural programme every evening in connection with the Heritage Week at the venue.
