Work on water scheme at fast pace

The work on the implementation of drinking water scheme with river Coleroon as the source to provide potable drinking water to Pandakapaadi panchayat are progressing at a fast pace, said the District Collector Darez Ahmed.

The ongoing works will be completed within five months, he said while speaking at a mass contact programme held Pandakapaadi panchayat on Wednesday.

He assured steps for the laying of road from Padakapaadi to Pasumbalur and added that the local health centre will be renovated by spending Rs. 1.50 lakh.

Mr. Ahmed assured immediate steps for the removal of all encroachments in the irrigation water sources of Pandakapaadi tank. The revenue and PWD officials will take a survey in this regard soon.

The Venbavur Primary Agricultural Cooperative Bank has sanctioned Rs. 90 lakh as crop loan to the farmers of this area so far, he added.

The Collector on the occasion gave away welfare assistance worth Rs. 4.75 lakh to 84 beneficiaries under various government welfare schemes.

R. Tamil Selvan, MLA; N. Sekar, District Panchayat Chairman; C. Palnivelu, Pandakapaadi panchayat president; and officials participated in the programme.
