Work on the construction of the combined court complex in the city is in the last leg as majority of the civil work has been executed.
The project sanctioned at an outlay of Rs.21.37 crore, was taken up in March 2013, is expected to be completed in a few months, say sources.
“The construction is expected to be completed ahead of the schedule,” sources told The Hindu . Explaining about the floor plan, sources said that it would have a total plinth area of about 2 lakh square feet, where 18 courts and judicial offices would be housed. The complex, a green building, would have four-wheeler parking for judicial officials and a two-wheeler parking lot for the visitors.
Sources said that the old court building, built by the British, would be preserved as a heritage monument.
