A 35-year-old woman, wife of a cab owner, who had consumed poison in an apparent suicide bid, swooned while waiting to submit a petition to the Collector L. Nirmalraj, here on Monday.
As the weekly grievances’ day meet which was under way at the Collectorate, Sangeetha wife of Muruganandam of Rayapuram near Tiruthuraipoondi in Tiruvarur district, suddenly took ill and swooned.
Immediately officials rushed her to the Tiruvarur Medical College Hospital in the official car of the District Revenue Officer.
At the hospital, the doctors treated Sangeetha who had consumed poison.
The woman had written in the petition that her husband had availed a loan for buying a taxi from a private financing company whose officers were pestering Muruganandam for repayment when he was not in a position to repay the dues.
She had also mentioned in the petition that to highlight their plight, she had consumed poison and had come to the grievances redressal meet.
