Locals noticed smoke emanating from the first floor of the apartment at around 4 a.m. and alerted the police. As the house was bolted from outside, the efforts of the woman to open the door failed. he and her son died due to suffocation. The bodies were shifted to the Mahatma Gandhi Government Hospital here for post mortem.
