Tiruchi Mayor expressed this view at a meeting between senior Corporation officials and EXnora chairman N.B. Nirmal
Voluntary organisations such as Exnora should join hands with the Corporation to take up a cleanliness drive over the next three months, Tiruchi Mayor A.Jaya has said.
The Mayor was speaking at a consultative meeting between senior Corporation officials led by V.P.Thandapani, Commissioner, and N.B.Nirmal, founder chairman, Exnora, at the Corporation office on Friday.
Ms.Jaya said Tiruchi city, being located centrally in the Sate, attracted a big floating population apart from tourists. Voluntary organisations should join hands with the Corporation to make the city clean and green over the next three months.
Mr.Thandapani emphasised the role of Exnora, voluntary organisations and residents’ welfare associations in collection of garbage from households and greening initiatives.
Mr.Nirmal said most of the discarded materials can be recycled and prevent needless littering of public places.
He also stressed the need for water conservation and source reduction of mosquito breeding.
Deputy Mayor M.Asick Meera, zonal chairpersons M.Latha, J.Srinivasan, R.Gnanasekar and N.Manoharan, City Engineer Raja Mohamed and other officials attended the meeting.
