Villagers in and around Kuzhumani offered their quinquennial prayer to Lord Ranganathar in their conventional custom on Sunday. Riding by bullock carts and tractors, residents of a cluster of villages came to the temple along with the offering of agricultural produce, mainly paddy, as a token of their thanksgiving to Lord Ranganathar. Although they visit the temple individually on other occasions, it is only this day that all villagers assemble at the temple in the Tamil month of Chithirai once in five years.

Residents from about a dozen villages, including Vadacherry, Podhavur, Thogaimalai, Keezha Veliyur, Mela Veliyur, and Kavalkaranpatti participated in the mass worship in Srirangam.

They came by about 200 bullock carts and 100 tractors. Apart from paddy, some of them donated cows to the ‘Goshala' of the temple. It is in fulfilment of their vows that they offer these cows, according to temple sources.
