Villagers hospitalised after consuming temple ‘prasadam’ near Ariyalur

Forty eight of the 54 villagers of Ninniyu village in Senthurai Union who suffered from nausea and dysentery on Tuesday after consuming temple ‘prasadam’ the previous night have been shifted to the Government Hospital, Ariyalur.

Over 200 villagers were said to have been served with ‘Pongal’ and ‘Sundal’ at a public function conducted in connection with ‘Somavaram’. The ‘prasadam’ was reportedly cooked in brass vessels without lead coating.
