Residents of Tirunedungulam near here have urged the State government to construct additional buildings for the newly-upgraded high school.

Led by S. Jayaraman, they submitted a petition to the District Collector, K.S. Palanisamy, seeking immediate construction of additional buildings for the middle school which was upgraded into a high school. The petition said that although the village panchayat had identified a site and handed it over to the Education Department for the construction of additional buildings for the high school section, the Education Department had planned to shift the entire school (both middle and high school sections) at Devarayaneri, which would cause hardship to the students. N. Karnan, panchayat president, said that absence of any bus facility to Devarayaneri from Tirunedungulam would add to the problem.
