A section of Village Administrative Officers (VAOs) and Village Assistants took out a rally here on Friday, demanding that the State government implement their eight-point charter of demands.

The rally was taken out as part of the indefinite strike resorted to by the VAOs and Village Assistants from February 16 in support of their demands. The rally, that started from Vestry School junction and culminated at Collectorate, was led by the Tamil Nadu VAO Association district president R. Sivagnanam.

Filling up of vacant posts; providing time scale of pay for Village Assistants, and doubling the travelling allowance for VAOs were among their demands.
