Vaiko calls for united struggle

People ofthe State must wage a united struggle to establish the rights of Tamil Nadu on the Cauvery issue and for the constitution of the Cauvery Management Board, MDMK general secretary Vaiko said in Thanjavur on Monday.

Participating in a human chain protest called by Opposition parties against the delay in setting up the Cauvery Management Board, Mr. Vaiko alleged that the Narendra Modi government at the Centre diluted the final verdict of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal.

“When the CWDT verdict was equal to the Supreme Court order, where did the necessity for the apex court to intervene again arise?” Mr. Vaiko said adding that all Tamils must wage a united struggle to achieve the aim of constituting the CMB.

It was unfortunate that the State Government was a passive supporter to the ulterior aims of the Centre that sought to forge a “one nation-one language” policy.

“We will resist those attempts with full vigour,” the MDMK leader said.
