Two visually challenged individuals G.Vellingiri and R. Mallika tied the wedding knot at BHEL Community Centre on Friday.
P. Nainar, General Manager, Human Resource, BHEL, presided over the function. R. Shyamala, District Differently Abled Welfare Officer, solemnised the wedding.
Sixty-two utility items were presented to the couple at the marriage.
C. Mani, General Manager, BHEL, M.Somasundaram and P.Manoharan, Additional General Managers, BHEL, were present.
About 500 school children from BHEL Campus and 60 visually challenged persons attended the marriage function.
This was the 59th marriage organised by K.Selvaraj, an employee of BHEL and a motivator of the eye donation concept, for visually challenged persons.
On the occasion, prizes were distributed to 24 students of the Government Girls Higher Secondary School for the Blind, Puthur; 12 visually challenged women from rehabilitation centre for visually challenged women, Mannarpuram; and six visually challenged workers from ORBIT (Organisation for the Rehabilitation of Blind in Tiruchi) who won various indoor and outdoor competitions held earlier.
Prizes were also distributed to winners of the eye donation awareness competitions conducted at various locations in the district.
