Two new ambulances for 108 ambulance service

Two more ambulances have been added to the 108 Emergency Response Service in Tiruchi district.

The service already has a fleet of 12 ambulances stationed at various parts of the district. The new ambulances, which were formally commissioned into service by Collector T.Soundiah on Friday, would be stationed at Pullampadi and Thathaiyengarpet.

The other ambulances are stationed at Cantonment, Chathram Bus Stand, Tiruverambur, No.1 Tollgate, Manapparai, Thuvarankurichi, Thuraiyur, Thottiyam, Musiri, Lalgudi, Uppilliyapuram and Siruganur.

According to B.Ravishankar, District Manager of the service, run by GVK Emergency Management and Research Institute, the ambulance have transported about 15,016 persons requiring emergency assistance to hospitals between December 20, 2008 and November 30, 2009. Among these were 4,594 pregnant women, 4,569 accident victims, 1,342 patients requiring specialised follow-up treatments and 676 patients with heart ailments.

Launching the new ambulances, Mr.Soundiah appealed to district residents to utilise the service well.
