Two workers die as boulder falls on them

Tragedy struck two labourers engaged in deepening a well when a big boulder fell on them and killed them at Naranamangalam near Perambalur on Monday morning.

Police said T. Vadivel (55), R. Selvaraj (55) and R. Kaliyan (60) were engaged in deepening the well behind the Samathuvapuram by drilling.

In the impact of the drilling, a huge boulder on top suddenly fell on the labourers killing Vadivel on the spot.

The other two labourers who sustained injuries were rescued from the well by a team of firefighters.

One of the injured Kaliyan died on the way to the Perambalur Government Hospital. Selvaraj is undergoing treatment at the Government Hospital.
