Two killed in accident in city

Two persons were killed and four others sustained injuries in a road accident involving a sand-laden lorry and a mini goods carrier on the Tiruchi – Dindigul national highway at Karumandapam in the city on Monday.

The deceased were identified as K. Paneerselvam (45), an occupant of the mini goods carrier, and P. Dhanasekaran (25), the driver of mini goods carrier. The injured were also occupants of the mini goods carrier.

Police sources said a group of people were travelling in the mini goods carrier to Chettikulam in Perambalur district when the lorry proceeding towards Dindigul from here collided head on with the vehicle and overturned. Paneerselvam and Dhanasekaran were killed on the spot. The lorry driver O. Raghupathy has been sent for remand. The Traffic Investigation (South) Unit has registered a case.
