The Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) South Tamil Nadu Chapter has urged the Jet Airways to operate overseas flights to Dubai and Abu Dhabi from here and increase domestic services with direct flight services to Bengaluru, Mumbai and New Delhi.
Its recent interaction with a top official of the Jet Airways here served as a chance to put forth these demands. Its office-bearers and members attended the meeting with Jet Airways, General Manager – Tamil Nadu and Kerala Muralidas Menon. Its chairman M.S. Paramasivam was also present.
With only Air India Express operating a single service to Dubai every day from Tiruchi, travellers from the central region are left with no other option to travel by either going via Colombo or boarding a flight from the Chennai airport. There is an equally heavy demand for direct flight services in the Tiruchi – Abu Dhabi – Tiruchi sector.
Although Tiruchi had direct connectivity to Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Kuwait a few years ago, they were all withdrawn subsequently. Mr. Paramasivam said operation of a morning flight service to Chennai from Tiruchi and services in the Tiruchi – Bengaluru, Tiruchi – Mumbai and Tiruchi – New Delhi sectors was also demanded.
