Trains delayed as catenary wire trips

Five long-distance express trains suffered detention midway after the overhead electric wire got tripped in one of the segments of the Tiruchi-Villupuram chord line on Sunday night.

Railway sources said that the catenary wire suddenly got tripped between Talanallur and Ichangadu in the wake of heavy rain leading to power block. Consequently, the Chennai Egmore - Kanyakumari Express was detained at Talanallur for nearly one-and-a-half hours, while Nizamuddin-Kanyakumari Express was detained for over an hour at Vriddhachalam.

The Tirunelveli -Chennai special, Chennai Egmore -Thiruvananthapuram and Chennai Egmore – Madurai express trains suffered detention for an hour at Sendurai and Poovanur respectively. The sources said that the problem was rectified later.
