Training programme on organic farming

Bharathidasan University and Thai Trust, Tiruchi, organised a one-day training programme on organic farming at Lalgudi recently. The programme was sponsored by the Department of Biotechnology, New Delhi, and the Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology (TNSCST), Chennai.

Farmers from various districts participated in the programme and learnt the techniques on organic farming and bio-fertilizer preparations. The State Transport Minister K.N. Nehru presided over the function and delivered the presidential address.

S. Vincent, Member Secretary, TNSCST, Chennai delivered the keynote address, while S. Senthilkumar, Editor, Pasumai Vikatan delivered the special address.

P. Malliga, Associate Professor, Department of Marine Biotechnology, National Facility for Marine Cyanobacteria, Bharathidasan University and S. Sakthivel, managing trustee, Thai Trust spoke on the occasion, a press release here said.
