Vehicular traffic at Chathram bus stand was hit for some time on Sunday morning after crew of private buses resorted to a flash strike protesting the alleged assault on one of the conductors by a police constable.

Police sources said a private bus came in advance of its timing and halted inside the bus stand blocking other vehicles leading to a traffic holdup.

Upon being informed by the transport corporation time keeper, a police constable stationed at the outpost asked the private bus crew to move and keep up the timing. This led to a wordy duel between them.

Traffic holdup

Alleging that a private bus conductor was assaulted by the policeman, the crew of private buses halted the vehicles along the road leading to traffic holdup and assembled in front of the outpost.

On receipt of information, police officers rushed to the spot and held talks with the representatives of private bus operators following which the services resumed.
