Members of traders’ bodies paid floral tributes to two brave youths – Major Mukund Varadharajan (32), who laid down his life fighting extremists in Kashmir on Friday, and Vinoth Kumar (25) of Krishnagiri district, a member of the Tamil Nadu Special Police Youth Brigade who died chasing some suspects involved in distributing money on election day – here on Tuesday.

Members of the Kumbakonam Anaithu Vanigar Sanga Koottamaippu and Tamil Nadu Vanigar Sangangalin Thanjavur Mavatta Peramaippu paid homage to the martyrs at a brief programme held near Gandhi Park in the town.

A large number of traders paid floral tributes to the portraits of Major Mukund Varadharajan and Vinoth Kumar and lighted candles.

The students and staff of the Annai Group of Educational Institutions, Kovilacheri near Kumbakonam, also paid tributes to Major Mukund Varadharajan today.
