TNPL donates Rs. 95,000 for sports meets

The Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers Limited (TNPL) has donated a sum of Rs. 95,000 towards the expenses for organising the Republic Day sports meet and Bharathiyar sports and games meet for boys and girls in the district.

Chief General Manager (operations) R. Mani handed over the cheque to J. Budhar, coordinator of the events, and physical education teacher of M.A.M. Ramasamy Chettiar Government Higher Secondary School, Kavundampalayam, Puliyur.

Mr. Mani said the TNPL was spending quite an amount on the welfare of the public through its corporate social responsibility activities every year. Its CSR policy aimed at promoting economic, social, environmental and cultural progress of the community. Towards that end, the TNPL has allocated an amount of Rs. 4.28 crore or three per cent of the net profit after tax for CSR activities for 2011-12.

Youngsters

The TNPL was taking several steps to promote sports among youngsters by organising volleyball, football and kabaddi tournament. The TNPL was also making valuable contributions to the sports associations to organise block level, district level, zonal level and state level meets, Mr. Mani added.
