Workers of the Tamil Maanila Congress launched a campaign in the city on Saturday to popularise the party’s new symbol, coconut grove, among the voters. Carrying coconut saplings, the party men launched the campaign near the Kamarajar statue in Central Bus Stand in the city.

Led by Sarubala R. Tondaiman, former Mayor and urban district president of the party, they distributed pamphlets among the public seeking their support to the party.

The party sought to project a 20-point action plan which promised, among other things, a liquor-free Tamil Nadu, pollution-free environment, corruption-free governance, communal harmony, health services for all and profitable agriculture.

Another group of TMC workers, led by M.D. Rajaraja Cholan, State Secretary, launched a drive to introduce the party symbol and distributed sweets among people in the Central Bus Stand.
