Tiruchi valuer gets award

The Institution of Valuers, New Delhi, has recently honoured B. Kanaga Sabapathy, a registered valuer of Central Board of Direct Taxes from Tiruchirapalli with ‘Life Time Achievement Award’ for his great contribution in the field of valuation of immovable properties for the past 26 years. The award will be presented to him during the national seminar on valuation to be held at Vadodara by end of this month.

Mr. Kanaga Sabapathy, now 58, has presented 385 technical papers at several conferences on valuation in the country for more than two and half decades. He has authored 11 books on valuation, and is said to be the only valuer in the country who had authored so many books in the field. His books have been prescribed by engineering colleges and various departments.

Mr. Kanga Sabapathy who is a Government approved valuer and chartered engineer in Tiruchi is also the recipient of several awards including silver medal award for his best paper at Chandigarh in 1988, gold medal award for his best paper at Bhubaneswar in 1998, Award for Outstanding Valuer at Vijayawada in 2005, Award for Eminent Valuer of the country at Kolkata in 2007 and Silver medal award for his best paper in Tiruchi in 2008.

Mr. Kanaga Sabapathy told The Hindu here on Wednesday that the Institution of Valuers had announced the award for the first time in the 41 years of its history. He pointed out two other persons - Dr. P.C. Gupta from New Delhi and M.V. Ramachandra from Bangalore had also been selected for this prestigious award.
