Tiruchi slips to 16 place

40 government schools secured 100 per cent pass

It was girls show all the way in Tiruchi district. A majority among the 27 students were girls, who shared the first three ranks in the SSLC public examination.

Tiruchi recorded a pass per cent of 92.45 this year, which is lower than last year’s pass percentage of 95.14. Of the 39,642 students who appeared for the examination 36,651 have emerged successful.

The district ranked dropped to 16th from 4th place.

The drop in the ranking is due the fact that there was a shortage of District Elementary Education Officers and that many students were promoted from class nine to 10 without filtering by marks, say official sources. A total of 20,116 boys and 19,526 girls appeared for the examination, out of which 17,953 boys and 18,698 girls have passed. The total pass percentage for boys is 89.25 and for girls it is 95.76 per cent.

Of the 396 schools in the district, 149 schools have registered 100 per cent pass. Of the 196 government schools in the district, 40 have registered 100 per cent pass.

The subject wise pass percentages are Tamil (95.30), English (94.53), Mathematics (96.04), science (99.79) and social science (97.21).

The first rank in the district was shared by four students, second rank by seven students and third rank by 16 students.

The four students who secured first rank in the district and second rank in the state have secured 498 marks. The students are Lavanya.M (Vivekananda Matriculation School, Dalmiapuram), Nuzhath Khanam.M and Soundarya.M (SRV Matriculation HSS, Samayapuram) and Shimreeth Hannah.S (Vimala Matriculation HSS, Thuraiyur). The seven students who shared the second rank in the district and third rank in the state, have scored 497 marks are Abdul Sharook A, V.Karthik and D. Savitha (from SRV Matriculation HSS, Samayapuram); Jannatnisha.Z (St. Philomena Girls HSS Tiruchi), Kamaran. D (Sowdambika Matriculation HSS Thuraiyur), Premi.T (Vimala Matriculation HSS, Thuraiyur) and Sasirekha.M (Sri Jayendra Matriculation HSS Tiruchi).

The 16 students who shared the third rank in the district have secured 496 marks are Abinayaa.K, and Mohana R. (from Savitri Vidyasala Hindu Girls HSS, Tiruchi); Atzohyya Rajkumar, Preetham S.M and Vignesh.K from SRV Matriculation HSS, Samayapuram; Charru Pooja S and Uma Devi B. (St. Joseph’s AI Girls HSS, Tiruchi); Harini.T and Srivarsha R. (Sowdambika Matriculation HSS Thuraiyur); Eaugene Thomas G and Priyadarshini.C (St.James Matriculation HSS, Tiruchi); Divya R. (Amala Girls HSS, Musiri); Nisha .K (Lakshmi Matriculation HSS, Manapparai); Priyanka .R (St.antony’s Matriculation School Thuvarankurichi); Sergia. L (Holy Cross Girls HSS, Tiruchi) and Subithsha.S (Vimala Matriculation HSS, Thuraiyur).

Jayashree Muralidharan, Collector congratulated all the toppers and gave them prizes.
