The platform No.1 at Tiruchi Junction, which remained closed for the past few months for laying of cement concrete apron was reopened on Friday for train traffic. The Tiruchi-Howrah by-weekly express was the first train to leave from the renovated platform at 4 p.m.

Tiruchi Railway Division has taken up the relaying of the concrete apron at a cost of Rs.50 lakh and the works commenced on February 8.

The platform has been provided with 600 metre apron and this will ensure easy cleaning and smooth train operations, a press release of M. K. Gopinath, Public Relations Officer, Tiruchi Railway Division, issued here said.
